Ivanti Warns of Hackers Exploiting Flaws

Ivanti, an IT software vendor, has alerted customers about a new vulnerability being exploited by hackers in its products.

Ivanti, an IT software vendor, has alerted customers about a new vulnerability being exploited by hackers in its products. The vulnerabilities, identified as CVE-2025-0282 and CVE-2025-0283, affect Ivanti’s Connect Secure, Policy Secure, and ZTA Gateways, which are widely used by both U.S. federal and local government agencies as well as international organizations. Ivanti confirmed that some customers have already experienced exploitation of CVE-2025-0282, though no reports have been made regarding CVE-2025-0283. The company has released a patch for Connect Secure, while patches for Policy Secure and ZTA Gateway are scheduled to be released by January 21.

The discovery of these vulnerabilities was made by cybersecurity firms Mandiant and Microsoft, which led Ivanti to issue a public advisory. Ivanti has provided customers with an Integrity Checker Tool (ICT) to help identify if their devices have been compromised. If exploitation is detected, Ivanti recommends performing a factory reset to remove any malware. The company emphasized the importance of upgrading to the latest versions of the software to prevent further exploitation.

The United Kingdom’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has also published an advisory warning about the active exploitation of these vulnerabilities. The NCSC is working to understand the impact of the breach on U.K. networks and has called for heightened vigilance. Ivanti urged its customers to avoid exposing any of their devices to the internet, a recommendation that aligns with prior warnings from U.S. federal cybersecurity agencies.

Ivanti’s response highlights the critical importance of securing edge devices, such as VPNs, which are primary entry points for cyber attackers. Following last year’s security breaches involving nation-state actors exploiting vulnerabilities in Ivanti products, the company pledged to overhaul its security measures. The recent incident underscores the ongoing risks to cybersecurity and serves as a reminder to continuously monitor and secure network access points. Ivanti is working closely with external security partners and law enforcement to mitigate the impact of these vulnerabilities and enhance the security of its products.
