Israel and Czech Enhance Cybersecurity Ties

The Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD) and the Czech Republic National Cyber and Information Security Agency have officially strengthened their cybersecurity relations through a signed memorandum. The director general of INCD, Gaby Portnoy, and his Czech counterpart, Lukáš Kintr, engaged in discussions addressing current cyberspace threats, particularly those associated with the Gaza conflict. Kintr expressed interest in understanding the challenges faced by INCD during times of war and its efforts to prevent cyberspace from becoming a battleground. The memorandum’s signing aims to facilitate closer collaboration, allowing the effective sharing of information and experiences, including opportunities for internships.

During the discussions, Kintr emphasized the significance of the Memorandum of Cooperation, stating that it would enable even closer cooperation between experts from both institutions. This collaboration is expected to enhance the cybersecurity capabilities of both nations and contribute to addressing evolving digital threats. Portnoy highlighted the commitment to standing together against shared threats, leveraging technology, and promoting cybersecurity awareness. The INCD director noted the evolving landscape of the digital world and emphasized the importance of international cooperation in navigating cyber challenges.

The formalized agreement follows similar cybersecurity partnerships that Israel established with the UK and the UAE in the previous year. These collaborations are part of Israel’s broader efforts to fortify its cyber defenses, particularly amid a surge in cyberattacks related to the conflict with Hamas. The Memorandum of Cooperation reaffirms the commitment of both Israel and the Czech Republic to work together in addressing the complex cybersecurity landscape and leveraging technological advancements to enhance their collective defenses against cyber threats.
