Idaho Botanical Garden recently became aware of a data breach after detecting unusual network activity on May 10, 2024. The breach, which was confirmed on June 10, 2024, involved unauthorized access to certain IBG data. The garden immediately took steps to secure its systems and engaged cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident.
The investigation revealed that personal information, including names and Social Security numbers, may have been accessed without authorization. On June 17, 2024, IBG began notifying affected individuals, including one resident of Maine, about the breach and the potential exposure of their personal data.
To address the breach, Idaho Botanical Garden has implemented additional security measures and is offering 12 months of complimentary services through IDX. These services include credit monitoring, identity fraud loss reimbursement, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration.
IBG has also established a toll-free call center through IDX to assist affected individuals with any questions or concerns related to the incident. The garden is committed to preventing future breaches and protecting the personal information of its stakeholders.
