Hornetsecurity, a leading cloud security and compliance provider based in Pittsburgh, has successfully acquired Vade, a prominent French email security vendor, for an undisclosed amount. This strategic move is poised to expand Hornetsecurity’s geographical footprint and fortify its capabilities in safeguarding Microsoft 365 for small and midsized businesses. The joint venture, led by Hornetsecurity CEO Daniel Hofmann, is anticipated to establish a robust presence in two key European markets, France and Germany, capitalizing on Vade’s excellence in cybersecurity, particularly in France.
The acquisition reflects a broader trend in the cybersecurity landscape, where companies are aligning forces to address the escalating challenges posed by cyber threats. Vade, founded in 2009, had received significant investments in 2019 and 2022, enhancing its position in the U.S. market. Despite a legal dispute with rival Proofpoint in 2021, Vade’s prowess in email security remained evident. The combined entity, now led by Daniel Hofmann, aims to streamline product integration by the end of 2024, enabling Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to manage security, compliance, and data loss prevention seamlessly across Microsoft 365 through a unified control portal.
Hornetsecurity’s acquisition of Vade not only signifies an alignment of strengths but also positions the joint company to achieve ambitious annual revenue growth of at least 40% and an EBITDA of at least 35%. The collaboration emphasizes a commitment to research and development, automation, and simplifying the role of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs). With a shared vision, Hornetsecurity and Vade anticipate delivering enhanced cybersecurity solutions to meet the evolving needs of businesses worldwide.
