Hiya Acquires Loccus.ai for Voice Security

Hiya has announced its acquisition of Loccus.ai, a leader in deepfake voice detection technology. This strategic move aims to enhance Hiya’s voice security services by integrating Loccus.ai’s capabilities, which can identify AI-generated voices in real-time. With increasing concerns about voice fraud, this partnership promises to provide businesses and carriers with the most comprehensive fraud call protection available.

The integration of Loccus.ai’s technology with Hiya’s Adaptive AI fraud prevention system will support multiple languages and formats, allowing for detection across various platforms, including video calls and live audio. This new offering, Hiya AI Voice Detection, can identify deepfake audio in just 1.5 seconds, enabling rapid alerts for users potentially targeted by voice scams. This capability is particularly crucial as voice impersonation scams continue to rise.

Research conducted by Hiya revealed that a significant percentage of consumers have encountered AI deepfake voice scams, highlighting the urgency of implementing effective detection measures. Recent incidents, such as a $25 million loss by Arup due to a deepfake scam, underline the threat posed by sophisticated AI-generated fraud. The acquisition positions Hiya as a proactive player in addressing these emerging security challenges.

Hiya’s CEO, Alex Algard, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating it presents a tremendous opportunity to offer a more intelligent voice protection solution. By leveraging Loccus.ai’s expertise in AI voice detection, Hiya aims to scale its voice security offerings to over 500 million users globally. This integration not only enhances user safety but also reinforces Hiya’s commitment to combating voice fraud and ensuring secure communications.
