Hinsdale school district in New Hampshire is grappling with the aftermath of a ransomware attack that occurred on Thursday morning. In response, school district officials are collaborating with cybersecurity experts from Primex, their insurance provider, and a professional cybersecurity response team to assess the extent of the situation.
To aid the forensics evaluation, all laptops belonging to students and staff have been collected. While schools continue to operate, staff and students are navigating the school day without access to technology. The district prioritizes restoring technology for main office administrative functions first, followed by instructional functions, in the coming days.
Superintendent David Ryan of SAU 29 expressed gratitude for the efforts of the technology director, Justin Therieau, and his staff, as well as their cyber response partners. The district is working diligently to recover and secure its systems following the ransomware incident.
