Highlands CPA, LLC has informed clients of a recent incident that may compromise some personal information. Due to regulations in Massachusetts, specific details about the incident are not disclosed, but the firm is committed to helping clients protect themselves against potential misuse of their information. The company emphasizes the importance of safeguarding the privacy and security of personal data entrusted to them and is taking the necessary steps to investigate the situation.

Upon discovering the incident, which occurred on an unspecified date, Highlands promptly initiated an investigation and assessed the security of its systems. The firm consulted with external cybersecurity experts to thoroughly understand the situation and to determine whether any sensitive data had been compromised. In addition to investigating the breach, Highlands took immediate action to notify potentially affected individuals, emphasizing the seriousness of the matter.

To assist clients in safeguarding their identities, Highlands is offering complimentary access to credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through Experian for a period of 24 months. These services include alerts for any changes to clients’ credit files and provide identity restoration support in case of fraudulent activity. Clients are encouraged to reach out to Experian for assistance if they suspect their information has been misused as a result of the incident.

Highlands CPA has also outlined several precautionary measures clients can take to protect their personal information. These include placing fraud alerts on credit files, requesting free credit reports, and, if necessary, implementing credit freezes to prevent unauthorized access. The firm expresses regret for any inconvenience caused by this incident and encourages clients to remain vigilant against identity theft by monitoring their accounts and reviewing credit reports regularly.
