The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, disrupted internet services and affected specific devices within the district’s buildings. Two district servers were compromised, leading to the impairment of Windows devices, file services, and printer/copiers. Fortunately, phones remained unaffected.
The district promptly conducted an internal preliminary assessment, reassuring parents and stakeholders that no student or staff data had been compromised during the breach. However, the severity of the situation prompted representatives from the Department of Homeland Security CISA to advise Groveport Madison Schools to shut down all internet access while addressing and resolving the breach. Consequently, internet services within the district were temporarily disabled on Wednesday.
Despite the internet outage, the district emphasized that school operations would continue, with attendance being manually recorded.
