Gateshead Council in the UK experienced a cyberattack on the early hours of 8 January 2025, which led to the theft of personal data. The council has yet to determine the exact number of affected residents, though officials have been quick to respond. They have advised individuals to be on alert for phishing emails and fraudulent activity, and have recommended changing passwords for those concerned about suspicious actions related to the breach.
