The Garonne Theatre in Toulouse has alerted its patrons to a significant cyberattack on its ticketing system provider, Forum Sirius. The attack, which occurred last month, compromised a database containing nearly 6 million records, including user IDs, names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails. While the breach involved personal data, it is noted that banking details were protected.
Forum Sirius, which provides ticketing software for over 400 cultural organizations across France, is reported to be selling the stolen database for $2,000. In response to the breach, the Garonne Theatre has communicated to its customers that any compromised passwords have been reset to prevent further misuse.
The theatre has assured its patrons that it is taking comprehensive technical and legal measures to address the situation and mitigate the impact. It has also emphasized the importance of not clicking on suspicious links and changing passwords for other accounts that may be similar.
The incident has been reported to France’s data protection agency, the National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties, which will work to prevent additional damage. The Garonne Theatre is working diligently to resolve the issue and ensure the security of its patrons’ information.
