Free Chapel Worship Center Data Incident

Free Chapel Worship Center in Renton, Washington, experienced a significant cybersecurity incident in January 2024. The incident involved unauthorized access to personal information, including names and Social Security numbers. Upon discovery of the breach on January 29, 2024, Free Chapel immediately engaged a team of cybersecurity experts to conduct a thorough forensic investigation. This investigation, which concluded on April 30, 2024, confirmed that certain data was indeed compromised. Free Chapel then undertook a comprehensive review of the affected data to identify individuals whose personal information may have been accessed without authorization.

The review process was meticulous and time-consuming, but by June 21, 2024, Free Chapel had determined the full extent of the breach. The personal information involved included sensitive details such as names and Social Security numbers, which were accessed without authorization. In response to the breach, Free Chapel implemented additional security measures to minimize the risk of a similar incident occurring in the future. The organization has taken these steps to ensure that its systems are more secure and to restore the trust of those impacted by the breach.

To help mitigate the potential impact of the breach on affected individuals, Free Chapel is offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services for a period of twelve months. These services include access to credit reports, credit monitoring alerts, and identity theft insurance of up to $1,000,000. The credit monitoring service is designed to notify individuals of any changes to their credit files, allowing them to take swift action in the event of any suspicious activity. Free Chapel is also providing proactive fraud assistance, offering guidance and support to those who may have questions or concerns about the breach.

In addition to these services, Free Chapel is encouraging affected individuals to take additional steps to protect their personal information. These steps include enrolling in the complimentary services provided by Cyberscout, a TransUnion company, within 90 days of receiving the notification. The enrollment process is straightforward, requiring an internet connection and an email account. Free Chapel is committed to supporting those impacted by the breach and is offering all the necessary resources to help individuals protect their personal information and minimize the risk of identity theft and fraud.
