France’s data protection agency has been alerted to a cyberattack targeting Forum Sirius, a ticketing system provider for over 400 cultural organizations. The breach has exposed a vast database containing nearly 6 million records, including user IDs, names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails. However, the database’s bank details are reported to have been safeguarded.
The attackers are reportedly seeking to sell the stolen data for $2,000 to a single buyer. Forum Sirius, which supplies ticketing software for numerous festivals, performance halls, and arenas across France, has been at the center of this significant data breach. The incident was promptly reported to the National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties, which will work to mitigate further damage.
In response to the breach, Culture Commune in Pas-de-Calais has informed its customers and is actively deploying technical and legal measures to address the situation. The organization has advised individuals to avoid clicking on suspicious links and to refrain from sharing any personal or banking information, even if the request appears to come from a trusted source.
Affected individuals are also encouraged to change passwords used across other accounts to enhance security. The situation underscores the importance of vigilance and prompt action in safeguarding personal information following a data breach.
