Elektroskandia Faces Cyberattack Disruption

Elektroskandia Sverige AB, a leading supplier of electrical products in Sweden, faced a significant cyberattack on September 3, 2024, severely disrupting its IT systems and operations. This incident rendered the Swedish webshop inaccessible and impacted customer access to services. In response, the company’s cybersecurity team initiated efforts to mitigate the breach while launching a comprehensive investigation to assess data exposure. Elektroskandia assured stakeholders of its commitment to transparency and security, acknowledging the inconvenience caused to customers and partners.

Throughout the crisis, Elektroskandia maintained its commitment to serving customers by keeping all 49 stores across Sweden operational through manual processes. Staff members ensured stock availability and assisted customers despite the technological setbacks. Meanwhile, the company worked tirelessly to restore its IT systems and logistics processes. By September 16, goods distribution resumed from the Örebro logistics center, marking a significant step toward recovery.

As systems began to recover, Elektroskandia implemented additional security measures, including a mandatory password reset for all online customers. By September 19, the company successfully reopened its webshop, emphasizing a secure and seamless user experience. Customers were encouraged to update their passwords following stringent guidelines to safeguard their accounts. The company expressed gratitude to its employees, customers, and partners for their support and patience during the challenging period.

Elektroskandia continues to prioritize security and operational resilience to prevent future incidents. CEO Anders Nordlöw thanked stakeholders for their trust and cooperation, reaffirming the company’s commitment to delivering improved services. While normal operations resumed, Elektroskandia acknowledged that some delays might persist and pledged to maintain open communication. The company’s recovery highlights its resilience and dedication to customer satisfaction amid a significant cybersecurity challenge.
