Enterprise Financial Group Inc. (EFG) recently experienced a significant security incident impacting their internal systems. On February 18, 2024, EFG detected unauthorized access and file copying by a third party. This breach was traced to vulnerabilities in a third-party VPN appliance, despite EFG’s efforts to address reported issues.
The company acted swiftly, involving external cybersecurity experts to investigate and contain the situation. The subsequent review, completed on July 15, 2024, revealed that the compromised files included various personal details such as names, Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses, passport numbers, and financial information.
The breach potentially exposed sensitive data related to individuals’ identities and financial status. In response, EFG implemented several measures to mitigate the damage. They applied all available patches, replaced the third-party VPN appliance, and enhanced their security protocols.
Although there is no evidence of misuse of the information, EFG is offering affected individuals complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through Equifax as a precautionary measure. EFG has emphasized their commitment to safeguarding personal information and has taken steps to prevent future incidents. They continue to work with cybersecurity experts to ensure the integrity of their network and protect the privacy of their clients’ data.
