Dayananda Sagar University (DSU) has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with SISA Information Security Pvt Ltd to establish a Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity. The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to significantly enhance cybersecurity education and training. This initiative will provide students with hands-on experience and access to the latest knowledge in the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity. The new center represents a significant milestone in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.
Dharshan Shanthamurthy, CEO of SISA, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “We are excited to partner with Dayananda Sagar University to establish the Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity. This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to nurturing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.” The center will offer practical training opportunities, preparing students to tackle real-world cybersecurity challenges and equipping them with skills that are highly sought after in the industry.
The collaboration will see representatives from DSU’s School of Engineering’s Computer Science Engineering Cluster, including specializations such as Cyber Security, AIML, and DS, working closely with SISA. Initially, the Center will accommodate 10 students, with the potential to expand by 5 additional seats exclusively for DSU students. Interns will have the opportunity to receive stipends and bonuses based on their project performance, with the potential for permanent positions at SISA upon successful completion of their internships.
This initiative aligns with the Union Budget 2024-25’s focus on employment and skill development, particularly through its internship scheme for 10 million youth. The partnership aims to train students in best practices and international standards, enhancing their readiness for the cybersecurity industry. Additionally, SISA will provide special training sessions and DSU will utilize SISA’s proprietary Purple Range Platform for enhanced student learning. DSU’s Dean of the School of Engineering, Uday Kumar Reddy, highlighted the benefits of this academia-industry collaboration, calling for more such partnerships to support student development and contribute to the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
