Databarracks, a specialist in technology and business resilience, has acquired Glasgow-based PlanB Consulting. This strategic acquisition aims to enhance Databarracks’ Operational Resilience and Cyber Continuity consulting practice. PlanB Consulting, known for its expertise in Business Continuity and Resilience, has been a leading force in the industry for nearly two decades. Led by Charlie and Kim Maclean-Bristol, PlanB is a multi-award-winning firm recognized for its thought leadership.
The acquisition allows Databarracks to expand its range of services, offering a complete suite of Business Continuity, Crisis Management, and Cyber Resilience solutions. This includes Data Protection, Disaster Recovery, and Incident Response services. Customers of the combined business will benefit from the enhanced capabilities and broader market reach that PlanB brings. The integration of PlanB’s skills and expertise strengthens Databarracks’ ability to provide end-to-end Operational Resilience services.
Mike Osborne, Chairman of Databarracks, highlighted the significant changes in the Business Continuity market over recent years. He noted that many specialized consulting providers have been absorbed by generalist IT service providers, leaving few dedicated experts in the field. The acquisition of PlanB addresses this gap, creating a leading Data Protection, Technology Recovery, Business Continuity, and Cyber Resilience business.
Chris Butler, Resilience Director at Databarracks, emphasized the increasing volatility and uncertainty in the world. He stated that organizations need to be prepared for the challenges posed by supply chain pressures and cyber threats. The acquisition of PlanB strengthens Databarracks’ integrated approach, enabling businesses to thrive in a changing environment by fostering dynamic leadership, adaptive operations, and robust technology.
