Cyera, a leading data security company, has announced its acquisition of Trail Security, a stealth-mode startup based in Israel, for $162 million in a combination of cash and stock. Trail Security, founded in 2023, focused on developing cutting-edge data loss prevention (DLP) technology that integrates artificial intelligence to identify and mitigate data risks. The acquisition marks a strategic move by Cyera to enhance its Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) platform, transforming it into a unified data security solution.
Trail Security, despite its short time in operation, attracted attention for its innovative approach to DLP, securing $35 million in funding from Lightspeed Ventures, CRV, and Cyberstarts. The startup’s AI-enhanced technology provides real-time protection against data breaches and loss, which Cyera plans to seamlessly incorporate into its existing offerings. By acquiring Trail’s technology, Cyera aims to strengthen its position in the data security market, setting a new benchmark for DLP solutions in an increasingly AI-driven landscape.
In addition to acquiring Trail’s technology, Cyera will onboard 40 of Trail’s employees to serve as the core of its new DLP division. This integration is expected to bolster Cyera’s workforce as it continues its rapid growth. Cyera’s valuation has already exceeded $1.4 billion, and the company anticipates expanding further, with plans to increase its staff to over 1,000 employees within the next two years. The acquisition underscores Cyera’s commitment to staying at the forefront of data security innovation.
Zohar Vittenberg, CEO and co-founder of Trail Security, expressed excitement about the acquisition, stating that joining forces with Cyera represents a significant milestone for both companies. “We’ve always aimed to push the limits of data loss prevention with AI, and in Cyera, we’ve found a partner that shares our vision,” said Vittenberg. Together, the companies are poised to deliver a comprehensive solution that not only identifies but also protects against data risks in real-time, setting a new standard for data security in the modern digital age.
