A recent report from Kaspersky underscores the significant challenges faced by companies globally in filling critical cybersecurity roles, with over 40% struggling to find suitable candidates. The shortage is particularly acute in fields such as information security research, malware analysis, security operations center (SOC) roles, and network security analysis. This scarcity is observed across various regions, including Europe, Russia, Latin America, the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa.
Despite efforts to attract talent through competitive salaries, better working conditions, and training programs, the demand for cybersecurity professionals continues to outstrip supply. The government sector appears to be the most affected, with nearly half of its required security roles remaining unfilled. Other sectors, including telecom, media, retail, wholesale, healthcare, IT, and financial services, also face substantial vacancies, highlighting the widespread nature of the talent shortage issue.
In response to these challenges, companies are increasingly offering incentives such as higher salaries, improved working conditions, and bonus packages to attract and retain cybersecurity talent. Additionally, investments in up-to-date training programs are being made to equip professionals with the latest knowledge and skills. However, despite these efforts, the report emphasizes the need for innovative solutions to address the shortage comprehensively and strengthen cybersecurity resilience in the face of evolving threats.
