Cyberattack: Ventia Takes Systems Offline

 

Ventia, a critical infrastructure services provider operating in Australia and New Zealand, has taken some of its systems offline following a cyberattack.

The company, which manages and maintains critical infrastructure for various industries, including defense, electricity, and water, made the decision to shut down key systems in response to the incident.

Ventia has engaged external experts and law enforcement to investigate the attack, prioritizing the security and safety of its people, customers, and stakeholders during the restoration process.

While operations continue, the company is monitoring its network for any abnormal activity and expects to return to normal in the coming days. The nature of the attack and potential data theft have not been disclosed by Ventia, but it is speculated that file-encrypting ransomware might be involved.
