CSC ServiceWorks Confirms 2023 Data Breach

CSC ServiceWorks, a leading provider of commercial laundry services and air vending systems, has confirmed a substantial data breach that took place in 2023. The breach was initially detected in February 2024, when the company observed unusual activity on its network. Upon investigation, it was determined that unauthorized intruders had accessed CSC ServiceWorks’ computer systems, compromising sensitive data for approximately 35,000 individuals. The breach is believed to have occurred between September 23, 2023, and February 4, 2024.

The compromised information is extensive and includes full names, dates of birth, contact information, government identification numbers, financial data, health insurance details, and, in some cases, limited medical information. Additionally, personal details of the affected individuals’ children were also exposed. The company has been working diligently to assess the full extent of the breach and determine the specific data accessed for each individual affected.

In response to the incident, CSC ServiceWorks has implemented a series of remedial measures. The company has engaged third-party security experts to investigate the breach thoroughly and enhance its security infrastructure. Furthermore, CSC ServiceWorks has contacted relevant law enforcement agencies to aid in the investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable. The company has also rolled out free identity protection services for affected individuals to help them monitor and safeguard their personal information.

To address the situation transparently, CSC ServiceWorks has issued notification letters to those impacted by the breach, offering them free credit monitoring services. The company has also submitted a breach notification to the Office of the Maine Attorney General, detailing the breach’s impact on 35,340 individuals. CSC ServiceWorks continues to enhance its security measures and work closely with external security providers to prevent future incidents and protect its customers’ data.
