CrowdStrike Acquires Adaptive Shield

CrowdStrike has announced its acquisition of Adaptive Shield, an Israeli startup focused on securing SaaS applications and identity management. This strategic move aims to enhance CrowdStrike’s ability to offer unified security solutions across hybrid cloud environments. As SaaS adoption continues to grow, organizations are facing increasing complexities related to identity management and misconfigurations, which can create vulnerabilities for sophisticated cyberattacks. By acquiring Adaptive Shield, CrowdStrike aims to strengthen its identity-based and SaaS protection, addressing these challenges and setting the standard for comprehensive security in the cloud.

Founded in 2019, Adaptive Shield has developed a robust SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) solution, providing visibility and control over over 150 business-critical SaaS applications. Their technology is designed to monitor and secure both human and non-human identities, ensuring proper configuration, data exposure management, and entitlements across a wide range of cloud environments. This acquisition will integrate Adaptive Shield’s expertise with CrowdStrike’s Falcon Identity Protection, allowing for a streamlined approach to securing SaaS and cloud environments, from on-prem Active Directory to cloud-based identity providers like Okta and Microsoft Entra ID.

A key aspect of this acquisition is Adaptive Shield’s focus on securing generative AI applications. With the rapid expansion of AI usage in the cloud, organizations face new risks related to data leakage, unauthorized AI apps, and configuration shifts. Adaptive Shield’s technology is designed to detect such threats, ensuring that AI-integrated applications comply with security policies and protecting sensitive data. This will be an essential addition as organizations increasingly incorporate AI into their SaaS environments, requiring consistent security standards and robust risk management protocols.

The acquisition also strengthens CrowdStrike’s overall cybersecurity platform by enhancing its ability to monitor and secure identities across multiple domains. CrowdStrike’s Falcon Next-Gen SIEM integration with Adaptive Shield’s technology will enable real-time threat detection and response, while Falcon Fusion SOAR will automate the correlation of threat intelligence and streamline incident response. This combination of cutting-edge technologies will allow CrowdStrike to provide its customers with unparalleled visibility and security across their entire cloud estate, helping them mitigate the risks posed by identity-based attacks and misconfigured SaaS applications.
