CloudBees Acquires Launchable for AI Testing

CloudBees has announced its acquisition of Launchable, enhancing its DevSecOps platform with advanced AI-driven testing capabilities. Launchable specializes in AI-augmented quality assurance (QA), promising to streamline the development process by reducing the time developers spend on testing. With this integration, CloudBees aims to optimize its platform, ensuring that it offers the most comprehensive generative AI optimization available in the industry.

The acquisition marks a homecoming for Launchable co-founders Kohsuke Kawaguchi and Harpreet Singh, both of whom have extensive backgrounds in CloudBees and DevOps, particularly with Jenkins, an open-source automation server. CloudBees President and CEO Anuj Kapur highlighted that the merger signifies two significant advancements: the introduction of AI-augmented Test Intelligence capabilities and the return of a key figure in the open-source community to CloudBees, reinforcing its mission for digital transformation in enterprises.

Testing is identified as a major bottleneck in the software development workflow, consuming up to 25% of developers’ daily time. As developers increasingly express interest in using AI for testing—46% in a recent Stack Overflow survey—CloudBees plans to leverage Launchable’s technology to improve testing efficiency. The AI integration is designed to facilitate faster dev-test iterations, enabling teams to prioritize critical tests, quickly identify failures, and automate testing upon code changes.

With early adopters like BMW and GoCardless already experiencing significant benefits, such as substantial reductions in machine hours and test execution times, CloudBees aims to redefine software delivery through innovative AI solutions. As enterprises increasingly seek to incorporate AI into their development processes, this acquisition positions CloudBees as a leader in providing cutting-edge solutions that enhance efficiency, reliability, and agility in software development.
