Cisco to Acquire Robust Intelligence

Cisco has announced its plan to acquire Robust Intelligence, a leading California-based company specializing in AI application security. The acquisition aims to bolster Cisco’s capabilities in protecting AI applications and integrating advanced security measures into its product suite. While the financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, Cisco’s investment in Robust Intelligence underscores its commitment to enhancing AI security.

Robust Intelligence is known for its AI application security platform, which automates the testing and assessment of AI models for vulnerabilities. This platform helps organizations safeguard their applications from potential threats and attacks. Notable clients such as JPMorgan Chase, IBM, Expedia, and Deloitte have already benefited from Robust Intelligence’s solutions, highlighting the firm’s significant role in the AI security landscape.

Cisco views this acquisition as a strategic enhancement to its Cisco Security Cloud. By integrating Robust Intelligence’s technology, Cisco aims to deliver advanced AI security processing directly into its existing data flows. This integration will provide Cisco with unparalleled visibility into AI traffic and enable customers to confidently build, deploy, and secure their AI applications.

The acquisition is part of a broader trend in the cybersecurity sector, with a notable increase in mergers and acquisitions. In the first half of 2024 alone, 178 cybersecurity-related deals were announced. Cisco’s acquisition of Robust Intelligence aligns with this trend, reflecting the growing emphasis on strengthening security in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence.
