Casino Fandango Reports Data Breach Incident

Casino Fandango reported a data breach on September 23, 2024, after discovering that unauthorized access to its computer network compromised sensitive consumer information. The company stated that the breach occurred between June 8 and June 13, 2024, during which an external actor accessed and copied specific files. In response to the incident, Casino Fandango immediately secured its systems, notified federal law enforcement, and enlisted external cybersecurity experts to investigate. Following the investigation, the company identified the compromised data and notified affected individuals through personalized letters.

The breach was first detected in June 2024, prompting Casino Fandango to launch a detailed review of the accessed files. Although the company has not disclosed the exact data types in its public notices, the letters sent to individuals outlined the specific information exposed. The review aimed to determine the scope of the breach and provide clarity on who was impacted. Casino Fandango has since emphasized its commitment to transparency and the security of consumer data.

In response to the breach, the Nevada-based casino implemented enhanced security protocols to prevent future incidents. It also collaborated with federal authorities and third-party specialists to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen its network defenses. As part of its remediation efforts, Casino Fandango has offered victims complimentary identity protection services, underscoring its focus on supporting those affected.

Casino Fandango, located in Carson City, Nevada, is a prominent casino resort offering gaming, dining, and lodging services. With a workforce exceeding 300 employees, the resort generates $38 million in annual revenue. Despite the breach, the company remains committed to its patrons and continues to operate its range of services, including table games, a sportsbook, and hospitality options.
