Cape Fear Aesthetics recently informed its customers about a data security incident that led to unauthorized access to sensitive information. The incident was detected on March 28, 2024, when suspicious activity was noticed in the company’s network environment. Upon discovering the breach, Cape Fear swiftly secured its systems and engaged a specialized cybersecurity firm to investigate the matter. By July 10, 2024, the investigation revealed that unauthorized access had occurred, potentially affecting personal health information of certain individuals. Although there is no evidence suggesting that the data has been misused, the organization chose to notify affected individuals to maintain transparency.

The compromised data included names, dates of birth, and treatment-related information, all of which were accessed by an unauthorized actor. In response to this incident, Cape Fear Aesthetics prioritized data security and initiated a thorough investigation, working closely with a leading forensic investigation firm to ensure the integrity of its network. The organization has since implemented additional monitoring tools and enhanced security measures to prevent future incidents, reinforcing its commitment to the protection and proper use of personal information.

To assist those impacted, Cape Fear Aesthetics is offering complimentary access to Single Bureau Credit Monitoring services, which will provide alerts for twelve months whenever there are changes to their credit files. The company has also arranged for proactive fraud assistance through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company that specializes in identity protection and remediation services. This initiative aims to help affected individuals navigate any potential issues that may arise from the data breach, ensuring they have the resources needed to safeguard their personal information.

Cape Fear encourages individuals to remain vigilant against identity theft and to monitor their accounts for any unauthorized activity. The organization advises customers to review their financial statements and credit reports regularly and to inform their financial institutions and credit bureaus about the breach. To enroll in the complimentary credit monitoring services, individuals must activate their accounts within 90 days of receiving the notification. Cape Fear Aesthetics remains committed to addressing customer concerns and protecting the privacy and security of their data, emphasizing its dedication to restoring trust following this incident.
