BeeKeeperAI has developed a zero-trust collaboration platform designed for AI developers to collaborate with custodians of privacy-protected data, particularly in the healthcare domain.
The company’s EscrowAI product, integrated with Microsoft Azure confidential computing, facilitates HIPAA-compliant research on sensitive patient data. The platform allows AI algorithm owners to submit their work, which is then securely wrapped in a computing container and sent to the data owner’s environment.
The encrypted data and algorithm converge in a hardware-based secure enclave, where they unencrypt in protected memory for computation, permitting only a predetermined output to exit the enclave.
The resulting report, detailing algorithm performance and data characteristics, is the sole information leaving the secure environments, which are subsequently destroyed. BeeKeeperAI recently secured funding in a round led by Sante Ventures, with participation from prominent institutions such as the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, AIX Ventures, Continuum Health Ventures, TA Group Holdings, and UCSF.
The investment aims to enhance the platform and expand commercial operations. This innovative approach aligns with current trends in cybersecurity, as highlighted by SecurityWeek, where investors are increasingly focusing on safeguarding AI training models.
The RSA Conference’s 2023 Innovation Sandbox winner underscores the industry’s shift towards securing AI technologies, emphasizing the critical need for robust solutions in the evolving landscape.
BeeKeeperAI’s platform addresses privacy concerns by ensuring that only the essential information generated from AI algorithms exits secure environments, providing a secure and compliant environment for collaborative work on sensitive data.
The recent funding injection is expected to further fortify BeeKeeperAI’s position in this burgeoning field.
