Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) has addressed rumors surrounding a potential ransomware attack, assuring its customers that both their data and funds remain secure. The speculation began after a report surfaced on December 18, 2024, referencing information from Falcon Feeds.io, which claimed that BRI had been targeted by Bashe Ransomware. The rumors quickly circulated online, raising concerns about the safety of BRI’s banking services and the potential exposure of sensitive customer information.
In response to the claims, BRI’s Director of Digital and IT, Arga M. Nugraha, confirmed that the bank’s operations remained unaffected by the alleged attack. In a statement shared on the bank’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, Arga assured customers that all transaction services were functioning normally. BRI’s online banking platforms, including BRImo, QLola, and ATM/CRM, were fully operational, allowing customers to continue their banking activities without disruption.
Arga further emphasized that BRI has implemented proactive security measures to safeguard customer information. The bank’s IT security systems adhere to international standards and are regularly updated to defend against evolving digital threats. These measures are designed to ensure that any unauthorized access is swiftly identified and mitigated, preventing any impact on customer security or privacy.
Although the claimed ransomware attack remains unverified, BRI’s swift and transparent response highlights its commitment to maintaining customer trust. The bank’s assurance that its systems and services are secure serves to reinforce its dedication to providing uninterrupted, secure banking operations. Customers can continue to use BRI’s services with confidence, knowing that the bank is prioritizing the protection of their data and financial assets.
