Judicial and law enforcement authorities across Europe and the United States successfully dismantled critical online infrastructure used by the Islamic State for propaganda and communications. The coordinated operation involved taking down servers in Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, and Iceland. Spanish authorities also arrested nine individuals linked to the network, which spread terrorist messages in over thirty languages.
The operation targeted platforms and websites connected to the I’LAM Foundation, which played a central role in disseminating radical Islamic State content worldwide. These online channels included radio stations, news agencies, and social media, all of which were used to spread propaganda and incite terrorism. The sophisticated infrastructure made tracking and dismantling these channels challenging.
Europol and Eurojust coordinated the efforts, providing critical support such as intelligence, forensic analysis, and legal assistance. Europol’s European Counter Terrorism Centre mapped the web infrastructure of the targeted assets and worked closely with technology companies to gather electronic evidence. Eurojust organized meetings and set up a coordination center to ensure the smooth execution of the operation.
This operation is part of ongoing international efforts to combat terrorist propaganda and communications online. It follows previous actions supported by Europol and Eurojust, highlighting the importance of collaboration between national authorities and international agencies in the fight against terrorism.
