Austrian IT Company Hit by Cyberattack

Over the weekend, an IT company based in the Austrian region of Styria fell victim to a cyberattack, putting at risk the customer data it manages for “Klagenfurt Wohnen,” a city-owned real estate company. Valentin Unterkircher, head of the Klagenfurt city communications department, confirmed the incident following an inquiry from APA, noting that the details were also reported by the “Kleine Zeitung.”

Unterkircher acknowledged the cyberattack on the company responsible for managing the customer data of Klagenfurt Wohnen, emphasizing that it is yet unclear to what extent data was extracted. Currently, experts are analyzing the situation to assess the full scope of the breach and the potential impact on sensitive information.

The breach underscores the persistent threat posed by cyberattacks, highlighting the vulnerability of organizations entrusted with managing sensitive data. As investigations continue, both the affected IT company and Klagenfurt Wohnen are likely to enhance their cybersecurity measures to prevent future breaches and safeguard customer information against similar incidents.
