Apotheco Pharmacy Reports Data Breach

On July 10, 2024, Apotheco Pharmacy Choice Torrance, also known as Janna Pharmacy LLC, reported a data breach to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights. The breach involved unauthorized access to sensitive consumer information stored on the company’s computer network. Following an investigation, Apotheco began notifying affected individuals of the incident. The breach highlights the risks posed by cyberattacks on healthcare providers.

Apotheco’s notice to the Department of Health and Human Services revealed that the breach involved the unauthorized access or disclosure of confidential information. However, the company did not provide extensive details regarding the breach. It remains unclear whether the attack targeted the pharmacy’s own systems or a third-party vendor. Despite limited information, the pharmacy reviewed compromised files to assess the scope of the data exposure.

Consumers affected by the breach are advised to remain vigilant, as the leaked information could lead to fraud or identity theft. Janna Pharmacy has sent or will soon send personalized data breach letters to affected individuals, outlining the specific details of the compromised information. This communication aims to inform consumers of the potential risks they may face due to the security incident.

Apotheco Pharmacy Choice Torrance is part of a larger network of pharmacies, headquartered in New York, New York. Although the pharmacy has not admitted any wrongdoing, it is committed to addressing the breach and mitigating potential damages. Consumers are encouraged to explore legal options if they were impacted by the incident and to take steps to protect their personal information moving forward.
