in Incidents

The hacktivist collective, Anonymous Sudan, has initiated a formidable cyberattack on Flydubai, a major UAE-state-owned airline, unveiling their responsibility for the extensive assault. The attack, which targeted crucial components like reservation systems and the airline’s mobile application, endured for over six hours. Despite the surface functionality of Flydubai’s frontend websites, Anonymous Sudan claimed persistent overwhelming of the airline’s servers, emphasizing the severity of the digital intrusion.

Anonymous Sudan disclosed the Flydubai attack on the dark web, delivering a chilling message detailing the successful compromise of the airline’s most critical digital infrastructure. The hackers warned of hidden consequences that may extend beyond the apparent disruption, heightening concerns about the overall impact of the cyber assault. Motivated by allegations of the UAE supporting the rebel Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, Anonymous Sudan explicitly stated their intention to target the UAE as long as it continued to back the controversial Sudanese faction.

The Flydubai cyberattack underscores a geopolitical motive, with Anonymous Sudan linking their actions to perceived UAE involvement in supporting genocidal actions. The hacktivist group issued a direct warning, asserting that attacks against the UAE would persist as long as they supported the Rapid Support Forces. The post concluded by attributing responsibility for any damage to Flydubai’s systems and any collateral damage resulting from the cyber assault, signaling a heightened level of digital activism with geopolitical implications.
