Amazon CyberFlex Cyber Safety Initiative

Amazon CyberFlex Cyber Safety Initiative

The Global Cyber Alliance (GCA) and Amazon have joined forces to launch CyberFlex, an innovative platform designed to protect 18- to 25-year-olds from the growing threat of online scams and cybercrimes. CyberFlex offers a comprehensive suite of resources, including free tools, interactive guides, and text alerts, all aimed at preventing, mitigating, and reporting cyber risks. This initiative is tailored specifically for young adults, with the goal of raising awareness, shifting attitudes about online dangers, and providing practical steps for protection.

CyberFlex’s content and messaging have been developed with input from a diverse group of young advisors to ensure relevance and effectiveness. The platform is designed to reach its target audience through the digital channels they use most frequently. This youth-focused approach is crucial, as research has shown that despite being ‘digital natives,’ young adults are increasingly vulnerable to sophisticated cyber scams. By engaging this demographic where they are most active online, CyberFlex aims to build a more trustworthy internet environment.

Brian Cute, Chief Operating Officer of GCA, highlighted the misconception that young people are inherently savvy enough to avoid online scams. “Data shows the opposite. Instead, they are a growing target for cybercriminals,” Cute said. Scott Knapp, Amazon’s Director of Worldwide Buyer Risk Prevention, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing Amazon’s commitment to consumer protection. “Scammers use convincing tactics to reel people in, which is why education around scam avoidance is critical to keeping consumers safe,” Knapp noted.

To further support the initiative, GCA and Amazon will host webinars on June 18 and 26, bringing together end users and industry partners to discuss the platform and its benefits. Additionally, a Japanese version of CyberFlex is set to launch later this year, expanding the initiative’s global reach. Organizations interested in supporting CyberFlex are encouraged to contact GCA, highlighting the collaborative spirit of this endeavor to enhance cyber safety for young adults worldwide.
