Airbus to Buy Cybersecurity Firm Infodas

Airbus Defence and Space’s recent announcement of its planned acquisition of Infodas, a prominent Germany-based cybersecurity and IT solutions company, has generated substantial interest within the cybersecurity and technology sectors. The strategic move to acquire Infodas underscores Airbus’ commitment to fortifying its cybersecurity portfolio and further establishing itself within the realm of secure data exchanges and information security management. Although specific financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed publicly, the prospective impact on the cybersecurity industry is substantial, given Infodas’ impressive annual revenue of €50 million. The deal is anticipated to be completed by the conclusion of 2024, indicating an impending transformation in the cybersecurity landscape.

Infodas brings to the table a diverse array of cybersecurity solutions, including the acclaimed Secure Domain Transition (SDoT) security gateway appliances. These appliances facilitate unidirectional or bi-directional data exchanges between networks or systems at varying security levels, aligning with the heightened need for secure data transmission in today’s digital environment. Moreover, the company’s offerings encompass an information security management system (ISMS) tailored for governance, risk, and compliance, in addition to a robust patch management solution and comprehensive penetration testing and consulting services. Notably, Infodas serves a broad spectrum of clientele, ranging from commercial enterprises to government entities, encompassing the military and critical infrastructure sectors, thus symbolizing its integral role in safeguarding sensitive data and information.

Further enhancing the significance of this acquisition is Infodas’ certification by Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) for auditing, consulting, and penetration testing services, indicative of its adherence to stringent security standards. Additionally, its SDoT product carries approval for classification levels up to ‘secret’, reinforcing its capability to handle sensitive and confidential information. This acquisition materializes in the aftermath of Airbus’ withdrawal from a previous deal to acquire Atos’ Big Data and Security (BDS) business, marking a strategic shift in its pursuit of strengthening its cybersecurity domain.
