AI Tools Fuel Nonconsensual Porn Creation

AI video generators, primarily from Chinese companies, are being exploited to create nonconsensual pornography. These tools, which lack proper safeguards, allow users to create explicit videos with just a single image and a text prompt. The videos often involve celebrities or real individuals without their consent, and the AI video generators are mostly free or low-cost. While some tools are straightforward, others require more technical expertise. In many cases, these tools bypass restrictions, making it easier for users to produce harmful content.

One of the most commonly used platforms for generating nonconsensual intimate videos is Pixverse, created by AIsphere, a Beijing-based company. Pixverse enables users to animate still images by feeding them a text prompt, and it is commonly used to create explicit videos of female celebrities. Another widely used tool is Hailuo, which specializes in videos where people undress or engage in explicit acts. These tools have gained significant popularity, as they are accessible and offer simple workflows to generate explicit material.

In addition to Pixverse and Hailuo, Pika, an AI video generator based in the United States, has become notorious for enabling the creation of graphic nonconsensual content.

Users have shared methods for bypassing its prompt filters and creating explicit videos. These AI tools are widely available on app stores, and many of them have gained traction because they are easy to use and often free.

While large tech companies like Apple and Google have acknowledged the issue, they have been slow to take action against these harmful tools.

The community behind these AI video generators actively shares prompts and workflows to bypass safeguards. As new tools are released, the community adapts and finds new ways to exploit them. Some open-source AI models, like Tencent’s HunyuanVideo, have been modified to create pornographic content featuring real people. Despite efforts by companies to impose restrictions, the tools continue to be misused for illegal and harmful purposes. Some creators even host these modified models on platforms like Civitai, further promoting the widespread abuse of AI for nonconsensual pornography.
