Activu Corporation Hit With Data Breach

Activu Corporation has recently taken steps to notify a Maine resident about a data breach involving unauthorized access to its computer network on August 30, 2024. The company became aware of suspicious activity and promptly secured its systems while initiating an investigation to determine the scope of the incident. During the investigation, Activu discovered that an unknown actor gained access to certain files within its system, raising concerns about the potential exposure of sensitive information.

The investigation revealed that the compromised data may include personal information such as names, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license or state identification numbers. Activu undertook a comprehensive review of the affected files to ascertain the specific information that was accessed or acquired. This thorough assessment was completed by October 11, 2024, enabling the company to understand the implications of the breach better and identify individuals who might be affected.

In response to this incident, Activu has taken proactive measures to assist those impacted by the data breach. The company has provided written notice to the affected individual, detailing the nature of the breach and the steps taken in response. Additionally, Activu is offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services through Experian to individuals whose personal information may have been compromised. This initiative aims to help mitigate the risk of identity theft and provide peace of mind to those affected.

Furthermore, Activu is committed to guiding impacted individuals on protecting themselves against potential fraud and identity theft. The company is sharing valuable information on placing fraud alerts and security freezes on credit files, accessing free credit reports, and remaining vigilant against suspicious activity. By encouraging individuals to monitor their accounts and report any instances of identity theft to the Federal Trade Commission or local authorities, Activu is taking significant steps to support its clients during this challenging time and reinforce its dedication to data security.
