Ticket sales for a highly anticipated meet-and-greet event featuring bestselling author Rebecca Yarros at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, Illinois, were suspended after the bookshop’s ticketing partner fell victim to a cyberattack. As of Tuesday evening, tickets for the November 11 event were still available, but sales were temporarily closed.
Anderson’s Bookshop plans to release updates on the situation, with further information expected at 11 a.m. on the following day. The bookshop did not disclose how many tickets were left for the event but assured customers that any tickets successfully purchased before the cyberattack are valid and will be accepted on the event night.
The cyberattack impacted the ticketing partner, Eventcombo, a third-party platform that provides ticketing services for Anderson’s Bookshop events. The entire Eventcombo website had crashed earlier in the day, affecting not only the bookshop but also numerous clients worldwide. Anderson’s Bookshop had previously relied on Eventcombo without any issues, emphasizing the unexpected nature of the cyberattack.
While the bookshop expressed its regret for the inconvenience caused to customers, it remains uncertain whether any customer’s personal information was compromised during the incident. Anderson’s Bookshop pledged to share any information received from Eventcombo about potential data breaches with customers and advised them to monitor the bookshop’s social media channels for updates.
