In a recent cyberattack, a hacker known as USDoD claimed responsibility for infiltrating Airbus, citing access via a Turkish Airlines employee account. The breach resulted in leaked data from Airbus, a prominent aviation and aerospace component manufacturing leader, being posted on the dark web.
Furthermore, the compromised information included details from Airbus vendors, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and more, which were shared on a hacker forum.
Additionally, Alon Gal, Chief Technology Officer at cybersecurity firm Hudson Rock, highlighted the breach, revealing that the hacker had access to data from approximately 3,200 Airbus vendors. The breach exposed vulnerabilities in cybersecurity measures, prompting discussions on how to prevent such account compromises.
USDoD gained access through a Turkish Airlines employee’s credentials and then misused this access to hack multiple Airbus client accounts.
The hacker also claimed responsibility for a previous attack on InfraGard, a non-profit organization working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This disclosure shed light on the hacker’s tactics, revealing that they submitted an account application in the name of a Chief Executive Officer to access InfraGard systems.
These cyberattacks underscore the need for enhanced cybersecurity measures and continuous monitoring to protect against increasingly sophisticated threat actors like USDoD.
