Leaseweb’s Security Breach Response

Leaseweb, a prominent global cloud and hosting provider, is diligently working to restore critical systems that were disabled in the aftermath of a recent security breach.

Furthermore, the Dutch company, known for its extensive clientele and vast infrastructure, notified its customers about the ongoing restoration efforts after discovering signs of unusual activity within specific parts of its cloud environment. The breach‘s impact on a segment of Leaseweb’s cloud-based infrastructure led to downtime for a limited number of cloud customers.

Additionally, to mitigate potential risks, the company swiftly undertook measures, including the temporary disabling of critical systems affecting their Customer Portal, with a commitment to bring it back online within a few hours.

In response to the security incident, Leaseweb proactively engaged the services of a Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) cybersecurity firm to investigate and contain the breach. With a focus on maintaining security and reliability, the company implemented robust containment plans in collaboration with the cybersecurity experts.

As the investigation continues, Leaseweb expressed confidence in having effectively contained the breach, enhanced their security measures, and not identified any further unauthorized activities. This responsive action highlights Leaseweb’s commitment to safeguarding its services and bolstering its cybersecurity protocols.

Leaseweb’s reputation as a major player in the cloud computing and web services domain is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of over 20,000 customers, ranging from small and medium-sized businesses to high-profile corporations.

With a track record dating back to 1997, Leaseweb has operated a mission-critical infrastructure and managed a staggering 80,000 servers. Operating 25 data centers spanning Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America, Leaseweb has cemented its presence as a reliable and resilient provider of essential digital infrastructure.
