Bedding Giant Tempur Sealy Hacked

Tempur Sealy, a major bedding products provider, disclosed that it experienced a cyberattack, leading to the shutdown of specific systems. The incident was detected on July 23, 2023, triggering the activation of incident response and business continuity plans.

Although Tempur Sealy has begun the process of restoring critical IT systems and resumed operations, the full extent of the impact remains uncertain, and the company continues its forensic investigation to assess potential material effects on its business, operations, or financial results.

Furthermore, the company also stated that it is yet to ascertain if any personal information was compromised during the attack and pledged to provide necessary notifications if such data breach is confirmed.

Tempur Sealy, renowned for its mattresses and bedding products under various brands, is headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. Following the cyberattack, the company proactively shut down specific IT systems, leading to a temporary disruption in its operations. SecurityWeek attempted to gather additional information about the attack, but the exact nature of the cyberattack remains unclear.

Nevertheless, the fact that Tempur Sealy was forced to take its systems offline suggests that ransomware could have been involved in the incident. As the company grapples with the aftermath of the attack, experts remain vigilant to ascertain the scope of the breach and potential ramifications on the company’s operations and customers’ personal data.
