Microsoft has alerted customers that several editions of Windows 11, version 21H2, will reach the end of their service in three months, on October 10, 2023. The affected editions include Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations, released in October 2021.

After the specified date, these editions will no longer receive security updates, and Microsoft advises users to update their devices to the latest version of Windows 11 to remain supported.

Furthermore, Windows 10 21H2 devices running the Home and Pro editions will no longer receive security and quality updates after the end-of-service date.

Microsoft has made available a list of all products that will either reach the end of their support or be retired in the coming months, and users can find specific end-of-service dates by referring to the Windows Lifecycle FAQ and the Lifecycle Policy search tool.

In addition, Microsoft has force-installed the Windows 11 22H2 update, also known as the Windows 11 2022 Update, on systems currently running Windows 11 21H2, which is nearing its end-of-service date.

To determine eligibility for the Windows 11 upgrade, users can check the Windows 11 specs, features, and computer requirements or utilize the PC Health Check app. Microsoft assures users that they can select a convenient time for their device to restart and complete the update, following the company’s commitment to automatic updates for Windows users to ensure protection and productivity.

For those experiencing any issues during the Windows 11 22H2 upgrade, Microsoft provides a support document and guided walk-through to assist in resolution.

The company emphasizes its dedication to keeping Windows users up to date and secure with supported versions of the operating system, carrying forward the approach adopted since Windows 10.
