Microsoft has upgraded its Edge browser’s ‘Edge Secure Network’ feature, offering a substantial increase in data from 1GB to 5GB. This enhancement utilizes Cloudflare’s routing to encrypt internet connections, providing protection against online threats, including hacking attempts.
Users must sign in with their Microsoft account to access the Edge Secure Network and monitor monthly data usage. Microsoft ensures that the user’s account identity remains confidential and is not shared with the service provider, Cloudflare.
In addition to the Secure Network, signing into Microsoft Edge with a Microsoft account activates data synchronization across all devices. This enables users to access their browsing history, favorites, settings, form fill data, passwords, extensions, open tabs, and collections seamlessly.
The Edge Secure Network has been under development for almost a year and is now being gradually rolled out to more users in the stable version of Edge.
The Edge Secure Network functions by routing traffic through an encrypted tunnel, creating a secure connection that makes it challenging for attackers to obtain browsing data.
While the Secure Network cannot replace all VPN features, such as selecting preferred locations or accessing blocked streaming content on platforms like Netflix, it offers the ability to bypass ISP blocks and access Torrent sites.
