SpecterOps Secures $25M Funding

Seattle-based startup SpecterOps has successfully raised $25 million in a Series A funding round to support its ambitious expansion plans.

The investment was led by Decibel, a venture outfit based in Silicon Valley, with participation from prominent cybersecurity executives such as Kevin Mandia, founder of Mandiant, and Jon Oberheide and Dug Song, co-founders of Duo Security.

SpecterOps specializes in technology to secure Microsoft’s Active Directory (AD) and Azure AD deployments, operating in the growing attack surface management category that encompasses continuous vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, red-teaming, and patch management.

The company is best known for its flagship product, BloodHound Enterprise, which offers tools to remove identity attack paths in AD and Azure AD. This platform, which includes an open-source component, continuously maps and identifies identity attack paths in Active Directory and Azure, enabling organizations to eliminate the easiest, most reliable, and most attractive targets for malicious attackers.

BloodHound Enterprise also provides precise and practical remediation guidance, as well as the ability to monitor and measure an organization’s security posture. It is currently used by companies worldwide, including Capital Group, the University of Texas at Austin, and Woodside Energy.

SpecterOps plans to use the $25 million funding to further expand its services and training products, aiming to enhance its capabilities and reach more organizations in need of robust security solutions for their AD and Azure AD deployments.
