Rockstar Games Fixes RRD2 Launcher Issue

Microsoft announced that Rockstar Games has resolved an issue with its launcher that caused Red Dead Redemption 2 (RRD2) game to fail on some Windows 11 systems.

The problem affects only gamers who launch RRD2 through the Rockstar Games Launcher on Windows 11 21H2 systems after installing the KB5023774 March 2023 optional preview update. The video game publisher fixed the launcher bug that triggered the issue with the launch of Rockstar Games Launcher version 1.0.71.1428, released earlier this week.

At the same time, Microsoft has also provided a workaround for customers who cannot immediately install the launcher patch or who do not have automatic updates activated.

It requires updating compatible systems to Windows 11 22H2, the latest available Windows release, which is not affected by this known issue.

Additionally, Microsoft advised that if users want to move to Windows 11, version 22H2, they should open Windows Update settings and select Check for updates. If their device is ready, they will see the option to Download and install.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was launched in December 2019 and has over 350,000 ‘Very Positive’ reviews on the Steam video game digital distribution platform. Rockstar Games had also resolved a Grand Theft Auto Online bug that allowed hackers to alter other players’ stats and have them kicked or banned from servers. In September 2022, the game publisher confirmed that hackers stole Grand Theft Auto 6 early development gameplay videos and source code after breaching its network.

Furthermore, the resolution of this issue means that fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 will be able to play the game without interruptions. The problem’s fix was announced only a week ago, indicating that the game developer acted quickly to resolve the issue.

Gamers who faced the issue but have not yet installed the latest update of Rockstar Games Launcher should do so to avoid further interruptions in their gameplay experience.
