NSA Veteran Takes Key US Cyber Command Role

A British national who is known online as “IntelBroker” has been charged by the United States for stealing data. He is accused of stealing and then selling very sensitive data from many different victims worldwide, causing major damages. The indictment accuses Kai West, a twenty-five-year-old British man, of using the handle “IntelBroker” in his campaign. This years-long campaign was used to steal and sell data from many government agencies and other private networks.

The stolen information included sensitive health records, internal files from telecommunication firms, and also user data from platforms. This data was most often put up for sale on the notorious BreachForums online hacking and data leak forum. IntelBroker has become one of the most notorious cybercriminals in recent years due to his many high-profile attacks.

He has been linked to data breaches at Europol, General Electric, Weee!, AMD, HPE, Nokia, and also DC Health Link.

The four‑count indictment from the U.S. government charges West with conspiracy to commit many different computer intrusions. Three of the charges that have been filed against him carry a maximum penalty of twenty-five years in prison. According to the Department of Justice, authorities have calculated that West caused approximately $25 million in damages. The DOJ’s announcement comes as French media reported today that West had been arrested back in February 2025.

The official complaint details how the FBI was able to confirm the true identity of the hacker “IntelBroker.” In January 2023, an undercover agent allegedly purchased a stolen API key directly from the hacker IntelBroker. The Bitcoin address used in the sale was then traced to an earlier wallet created on the Ramp platform. This account was registered to a United Kingdom driving license that was in Kai West’s name, revealing his identity.
