Houston Housing Authority Breach Affects 30K

Systex Corporation, a Taiwanese IT service provider, recently reported a ransomware attack. On March 31, 2025, the company confirmed receiving an anonymous online ransom letter, which initiated its response to the cyberattack. As part of its investigation, Systex is collaborating with Taiwan’s Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau (MJIB) to probe the incident. Preliminary findings suggest the hacker group CrazyHunter may be responsible, a group previously linked to cyberattacks on Taiwanese medical institutions, including Mackay Memorial Hospital.

The company has not disclosed specific details regarding any exposed data or individuals impacted by the breach. However, Systex has assured the public that the attack has not significantly affected its daily operations thus far. The ransom amount demanded by the attackers remains undisclosed. Despite the ongoing investigation, Systex continues to function without any notable disruption, and the company is actively working with cybersecurity experts to determine the cause of the attack and bolster its security protocols.

In response to the cyberattack, Systex posted a notice on its website to alert customers about hackers impersonating the company. These fraudsters have been attempting to solicit loans and investments under false pretenses, exploiting the company’s name. While the investigation into the ransomware attack continues, Systex has heightened monitoring of its systems and is taking immediate steps to safeguard its information from further compromise. No major operational impact has been reported at this time.

Systex is taking proactive measures to strengthen its cybersecurity defenses and prevent future incidents. The company is working closely with both internal teams and external cybersecurity experts to identify and address potential vulnerabilities. In addition to enhancing system monitoring, Systex is reviewing its security framework and implementing protective measures to ensure the integrity and safety of its operations moving forward.
