GetReal Security, a cybersecurity startup, has successfully raised $17.5 million in Series A funding to combat AI-driven threats such as deepfakes and impersonation. The investment round, led by Forgepoint Capital, includes support from prominent investors like Ballistic Ventures, Capital One Ventures, Cisco Investments, Evolution Equity, K2 Access Fund, and In-Q-Tel (IQT). This follows the company’s emergence from stealth mode less than a year ago, marking a significant milestone in its journey to combat the growing threat posed by AI-generated risks in the digital landscape.

Founded with the expertise of Ballistic Ventures and UC Berkeley Professor Hany Farid, GetReal Security specializes in identifying and mitigating AI-generated threats. The company provides organizations with a unified platform that includes advanced image, audio, and video content verification tools to help combat deepfakes and other malicious AI-driven content. This platform supports various communication streams and enables organizations to manage risk effectively, identify potential threats, and deploy necessary countermeasures to safeguard their digital assets.

In addition to its core platform, GetReal Security also offers crucial training for security teams, assisting organizations with policy development to build comprehensive defenses.

The company’s recently launched incident response service provides advanced forensic analysis, supporting organizations in navigating complex incidents caused by AI-generated threats. GetReal’s products have already been adopted by various sectors, including financial institutions, government agencies, multinational corporations, and media organizations, demonstrating their effectiveness in addressing pressing security concerns.

With the fresh funding, GetReal Security plans to invest in research and development to further enhance its products and expand its market presence. The company also intends to scale its go-to-market strategies, aiming to meet the increasing demand for solutions capable of verifying and authenticating digital media in an age of rapidly evolving AI technologies. As AI-generated content continues to rise, GetReal Security is focused on providing critical tools for organizations to protect themselves from cyber threats and ensure the integrity of their digital environments.
