BMGI Data Breach Exposes Sensitive Data

Presbyterian Homes of Georgia, Inc. (PHG) recently informed individuals about a data event that may have compromised their personal data. While PHG has not discovered any actual misuse of the data, they are being transparent and providing affected individuals with information about the event and available resources to safeguard their information. The breach was detected on November 9, 2024, when PHG became aware of suspicious activity within its network environment. The company quickly took steps to secure its systems and initiated an investigation, which confirmed that unauthorized access to certain sensitive data may have occurred.

Following the detection, PHG worked with a cybersecurity firm to understand the full scope of the breach. By January 30, 2025, PHG had identified the individuals whose sensitive data, including names and Social Security numbers, may have been exposed. Although there is no evidence to suggest the data was misused, PHG is notifying individuals out of an abundance of caution to ensure that they are aware of the situation and have access to resources to protect their information.

In response to the incident, PHG has implemented additional security measures and is offering affected individuals free credit monitoring services for 12 months.

These services, provided by Cyberscout, will include alerts about any changes to credit files and proactive fraud assistance in case of suspicious activity. PHG has assured that it is taking this matter seriously and is working to prevent future security incidents by enhancing its systems’ protection and security protocols.

PHG has encouraged individuals to monitor their accounts and credit reports for any signs of unauthorized activity. Additionally, security experts recommend placing fraud alerts with the credit bureaus and considering a security freeze on personal information to prevent unauthorized access. PHG has made resources available for individuals to contact if they need further assistance or have questions regarding the event. They have committed to protecting personal data and addressing any concerns related to the breach.
