Censis Reports Breach Exposing Personal Data

Censis Technologies, Inc. recently reported a data breach to the Attorney General of Massachusetts, revealing that sensitive personal identifiable information (PII) may have been accessed in its systems. While the company did not elaborate on the specifics of the security incident, the breach notice indicates that the exposed data varied depending on the individual affected. The potentially compromised information includes names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state-issued identification numbers, financial account details, and credit or debit card numbers.

Following the detection of the breach, Censis initiated a process to notify the impacted individuals. The company began mailing data breach notification letters to Massachusetts residents who were affected by the incident. In these letters, Censis provided information on the specific types of sensitive data that may have been exposed and offered complimentary credit monitoring services for 24 months to help mitigate the risk of identity theft and fraud.

As a response to the breach, Censis is taking measures to safeguard its systems and prevent future incidents. While the company did not specify the details of the breach’s cause, it has indicated a commitment to improving security measures. Censis is working with relevant authorities and cybersecurity experts to investigate the breach’s root cause and ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.

Censis Technologies is a software company based in Franklin, Tennessee, specializing in surgical instrument inventory management. Founded in 2001, the company provides cloud-based solutions that assist healthcare facilities in maintaining patient safety, regulatory compliance, and quality standards in the perioperative loop. In 2019, Censis was acquired by Fortive, a global technology company headquartered in Washington, and currently employs over 50 people.
