Adams Homes Reports Data Breach in Texas

Adams Homes, a privately held homebuilding company based in Pensacola, Florida, reported a data breach to the Attorney General of Texas on September 25, 2024. The breach involved unauthorized access to sensitive personal identifiable information within the company’s systems. While full details of the breach have not been publicly disclosed by Adams Homes, the company confirmed that the compromised data may include individuals’ names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and addresses. This data exposure poses significant risks for identity theft and other forms of fraud.

Although the breach’s full scope and cause are still under investigation, Adams Homes began notifying impacted individuals once the breach was identified. The company has yet to provide specifics on how the unauthorized party gained access to its systems or how many individuals were affected by the incident. However, the breach has raised concerns about the security measures in place at Adams Homes and whether there were vulnerabilities in its network or third-party systems used by the company.

Founded in 1991, Adams Homes has built over 50,000 homes across the Southeastern United States, including in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Texas. The company has earned a strong reputation for its homebuilding services, with over 200 employees and more than 150 communities under its belt. Adams Homes provides homes to individuals and families, and its wide reach across multiple states has helped it become a key player in the region’s homebuilding market.

With the breach now reported, Adams Homes is taking steps to address the situation and prevent further exposure of customer data. The company is working to assess the full impact of the breach while ensuring that those affected are notified and offered support. The breach highlights the growing concern over cybersecurity in the homebuilding industry, especially when it comes to protecting sensitive consumer information from unauthorized access.
