Frana Companies Reports Data Breach

Frana Companies recently disclosed a data security incident to the Maine Attorney General, revealing that sensitive personal identifiable information may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized individual. The breach notice indicated that suspicious activity was detected in Frana’s network environment on May 10, 2024. An investigation revealed that sensitive data was potentially viewed and obtained on or around April 24, 2024. The company then conducted a thorough review to identify the specific individuals affected and the information compromised.

The review process concluded on August 28, 2024, although Frana has not publicly disclosed the exact types of personal information exposed. State reporting guidelines suggest that the compromised data might include names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license details, account information, or passwords. Frana has since begun notifying affected individuals, with data breach notification letters sent out starting September 23, 2024. Impacted individuals have been informed about the type of data involved and the resources available to mitigate potential risks.

In response to the breach, Frana is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services to affected individuals. This initiative aims to help protect against potential identity theft or financial fraud resulting from the incident. While no specific details about the breach’s scale have been disclosed, Frana emphasized its commitment to safeguarding sensitive information and assisting those impacted by the breach.

Frana Companies, a construction firm based in Hopkins, Minnesota, has been in operation since 1977. Specializing in privately financed and government-funded multi-family housing projects, the company has overseen the construction of over 24,000 multi-family units valued at more than $2.2 billion across the Upper Midwest. With a team of over 50 employees, Frana is a prominent name in the construction industry, known for managing diverse projects from high-rise towers to large townhome communities.
